Motrix® Composite Cover Lens
Lighter, Safer, and More Flexible Than Glass
Motrix® PMMA + PC Composite Cover Lens combines advanced co-extrusion technology with the complementary strengths of PMMA and PC. The PMMA surface provides excellent hardness and weather resistance, while the PC substrate delivers outstanding impact resistance. This composite structure helps overcome common limitations of conventional injection-molded PC cover lenses, including yellowing, insufficient surface hardness, and Rainbow Mura, while maintaining clear and stable optical performance.
To meet different automotive display requirements, Motrix® offers a range of professional surface treatments, including HC, AG, AR, and AF. These treatments can enhance scratch resistance, reduce glare and surface reflections, and improve anti-fingerprint and stain-resistant performance. Consistent coating quality and reflection color can also be maintained across both flat and curved surfaces, supporting reliable optical performance in a wide range of display designs.
Compared with conventional glass cover lenses, the Motrix® composite solution can reduce weight by approximately 50% while providing excellent impact resistance. This helps reduce the risk associated with glass breakage and can also minimize the need for additional anti-shatter film, contributing to safer and lighter automotive display systems.
Beyond weight and durability, PMMA + PC composite cover lenses also offer greater design flexibility. Complex contours, curved surfaces, and diverse form factors can be achieved more easily than with conventional flat glass, giving automotive designers greater freedom to create integrated, distinctive display solutions for next-generation smart cockpits.
